Install the visual studio build tools 2017

Download visual studio community 2017 from here.

Then install the build tools.
The default configuration is good enough.

You can run the installer again to make modifications or install the different versions of visual studio 2017.

Adapt the windows account variables

Click on the magnifying glass in the task bar.
Type "variable"
Select the variables for your account.
Modify the user variables.

Add the linker (link.exe) folder to the Path variable

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\BuildTools\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.10.25017\bin\HostX64\x64

A semicolon is used to separate paths.

Of course you must replace the version number by what you have.

Create the LIB variable for the linker

The LIB value with 3 paths:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Lib\10.0.14393.0\um\x64;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\BuildTools\VC\Tools\MSVC\14.10.25017\lib\x64;C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Lib\10.0.14393.0\ucrt\x64

The 3 paths: Of course you must replace the version numbers and the x64 entry by what you have or need.

Add the LIB variable as %LIB% path to the Path variable value
