IMO inhibition is caused by the combination of:

Inhibition can be caused by shame. E.g. shame of failure.
Inhibition can be caused by doubt related to decisions and opportunity costs.

Procrastination is caused by inhibition.
Do not fall in the trap of overcoming procrastination with more distress like anger or fear and panic.

The distress to overcome procrastination will only increase over time and more failure and distress is inevitable.

Distress is the way to a depressed inhibited unhealthy unpleasant life.

Distraction is caused by inhibition.
